Detailed Description

 

  • Responsible for key marketing areas, establishing district marketing direction, supplier selection, new product introduction, sales promotions, pricing policies, key customer contact, and national accounts.
  • Manages coordination of purchasing within district with emphasis on preferred suppliers.
  • Develops and maintains cooperative relationships with select suppliers.
  • Plans, develops, and implements specific actions and programs in accordance with management sales plan.
  • Develops, implements, and adjusts district sales plan designed to increase market penetration.
  • Oversees branch managers in hiring, deploying, and managing outside salespersons to provide coverage of total district geographic market segments while assuring adequate potential for individual territory development.
  • Develops outside salespersons by providing sales technique and product training through personal example, coaching, and formal and informal training sessions.
  • Makes sales calls to customer managers and principals of key accounts to foster growth and ensure adequate coverage, penetration and customer service.
  • Conducts quarterly reviews with district and branch personnel to focus on performance against objectives and provide counseling, help, and motivation to achieve objectives.
  • Develops team working relationship between employees clearly defining each member's primary and secondary responsibilities, and relationship to others within district and branch.
  • Ensures adequate delegation of authority to branch managers and subordinates to carry out responsibilities and tasks.
  • Establishes and controls pricing levels while implementing policies and programs to improve margins.
  • Guides branch managers, branch supervisors or branch operations managers in selection, hiring, development, promotion, demotion and dismissal of employees.
  • Administers practices of equal employment opportunities.
  • Assists financial services with exercising policies pertaining to extension of credit, collection of accounts receivable, attainment of acceptable days outstanding, and minimization of potential losses.
  • Ensures district and branches are taking an active role in negotiating lower costs and extended payment terms from key suppliers.
  • Develops and implements plans to provide premium customer service and to review performance against objectives regularly.
  • Identifies market potential by industry and update annually.


Job Requirements

 

EXPERIENCE:

  • Branch management – 5 years required; 10 years preferred.
  • Selling in electrical distribution industry – 3 years required; 5 years preferred.

EDUCATION:

  • High School Degree or equivalent required; Bachelors’ Degree preferred.

SKILLS/REQUIREMENTS:

  • Business and management principles, including strategic planning, resource allocation, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.
  • Principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
  • Strong verbal, written, analytical, persuasion and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong computer and time management skills.
  • Sales ability, financial aptitude, strong leadership and strong people skills.
  • Demonstrate teamwork, leadership and flexibility.
  • WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
  • General Office – Work is generally performed within an office environment, with standard office equipment. Lighting and temperature are adequate and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Work is generally sedentary in nature, but may require standing and walking for up to 10% of the time.


MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Employee required to analyze and interpret complex data.
  • Employee required to problem-solve.
  • Employee required to communicate with the public.
  • Employee required to manage other employees.
