Description

The Service & Repair Technician provides advanced technical sales and service to our customer base. This entails diagnosing equipment problems and scheduling recommendations for service/repair work orders.

  • Follows Service/Repair procedures log
  • Ensures all items are tagged and calibrated and in ready to use condition for rental equipment
  • Enters rental/repair orders in the Prophet 21 operating software system
  • Provides on-site and in-house product demonstrations such as use of air filtration and respiratory equipment
  • Service and repair of restoration, abatement, respiratory and confined space equipment
  • Expedites orders and follow up with customers relating to service orders
  • Conducts in-house or on-site DOP testing
  • Conducts respiratory fit testing service either in-house or at customer’s site
  • Conducts HazmastersID inspections as required
  • Updates customers and sales reps with equipment rental/repairs status
  • Prepares for, attends, and participates in branch and departmental meetings as required
  • Remains current on industry trends, market activity, competitor products and technical bulletins provided by suppliers
  • Performs daily safety inspections of equipment and service vehicles
  • Provides backup to customer service/warehouse staff as required

Requirements

Education

  • High school degree or equivalent required

Skills

  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and time management skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
  • TDG certified, based on possible movement of asbestos containing materials
  • WHMIS certified, based on local chemicals and products
  • Experience using hand trucks, forklifts, hoists, or other handling equipment devices
  • Mechanically inclined

Working Environment

  • Driver - Work is generally performed in moving vehicle; driving required for an extended period of time with frequent stops and starts; can be exposed to outdoor weather conditions
  • Warehouse - Work is generally performed in a warehouse environment; noise level is moderately quiet; generally well ventilated and well lighted; warehouse employees may be exposed to all kinds of weather and may be required to wear protective clothing; operates heavy equipment; strict safety regulations required

Physical Requirements

  • Work is generally sedentary in nature, but may require standing and walking for up to 10% of the time
  • Work is physically strenuous and workers are required to lift heavy packages up to 50 pounds
  • Work may require excessive bending or stooping
  • Employee required to sit and drive a vehicle to perform their job
  • Employee required to climb ladders
  • Employee required to use hand tools
  • Employee uses heavy machinery (e.g., forklift, etc.)

Mental Requirements

  • Employee required to calibrate precise measurements
  • Employee required to problem-solve
  • Employee required to communicate with the public

Experience

  • 2 years service and repair experience
  • 2 years customer service experience
  • 2 years diagnostic experience
